How does a strip extruder extrude strips of a fixed length?

I’m asking for help: what kind of extruder can be used to control the length of the extruded strips? For example, if I want strips that are 5mm long, then all the strips should be 5mm long. What type of machine can achieve this?

No, this is a single-screw extruder that produces material continuously; it’s not possible to control when the material flow stops while it’s being extruded
Maybe my extruder isn’t working well; I’ve never seen an extruder with adjustable dimensions
