Does it cause an increase in the levels of calcium and magnesium ions in hydrochloric acid? Has anyone encountered this? What should be done to handle this? Thank you!
Even fiberglass can’t withstand it. Are there any photos? The pitting corrosion of Cl ions is so severe

It should be a quality issue. It’s not a corrosion issue.
The corrosion caused by acid mist on the tank is quite severe.

If this acid tank is used in an ion-exchange membrane system for storing hydrochloric acid, the calcium and magnesium content will rise sharply. To be honest, if the resin, reinforcing fibers, and manufacturing processes used for fiberglass tanks are carried out in accordance with the required standards, those tanks can serve for a decade or even two decades without any problems. However, some companies try to reduce their investment costs by driving down prices aggressively. To cut costs, manufacturers use substandard resin or fail to meet the required manufacturing standards; they may even increase the thickness of the adhesive layer in the reinforcing fibers (which, when reacting with acids, turns into ions that enter the system). As a result, such tanks collapse after just a few years. So the sooner it’s replaced, the better; find a reputable supplier to do the work, and don’t push the price too low. As the saying goes, good quality comes at a high price; anything cheap is of poor quality.
