Prosecutorial organs have launched investigations into 10 suspects suspected of committing job-related crimes in connection with the “November 24” major accident at the Fengcheng Power Plant in Jiangxi Province. Beijing, December 19 (Reporter Dai Jia) – Today, the reporter learned from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate that prosecutorial organs have lawfully launched investigations into 10 suspects suspected of committing job-related crimes related to the “November 24” major accident at the Fengcheng Power Plant in Jiangxi Province. 　　At 7:33 on November 24, following the particularly serious accident involving the collapse of a construction platform at the cooling tower of the Fengcheng Power Plant in Jiangxi Province, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate earnestly implemented the important directives of central leaders such as **** and Premier ** to swiftly determine the causes of the accident, draw thorough lessons from it, and hold those responsible accountable. It immediately sent officials to join the accident investigation team established by the State Council, and formed a special task force composed of representatives from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and procuratorial agencies at three levels in Jiangxi Province. Under the unified coordination of the State Council’s investigation team, this task force carried out investigations in accordance with the law, leveraging the functions of the procuratorial system. It has been determined that nine individuals, including Deng Yongchao (at the deputy department level), a member of the Party Committee and head of the labor union at Jiangxi Investment Group Company, as well as the chief engineer in charge of the construction of the Phase III expansion project of Fengdian Power Plant; Zhang Zhixiang, head of the Electric Power Safety Supervision Department at the Central China Regulatory Bureau of the **Energy Agency; Yang Feiyun, head of the quality supervision team for the Phase III expansion project of Fengdian Power Plant; and Mao Weidong, deputy director of the Fengcheng City Industry and Information Technology Commission, are guilty of serious dereliction of duty and misconduct, and bear significant responsibility for the occurrence of the accident. In accordance with the law, the procuratorial authorities initiated investigations into Deng Yongchao and 8 other individuals on charges of dereliction of duty; at the same time, an individual suspected of committing bribery was also subject to investigation in accordance with the law. 　　Currently, the case is under further investigation.
