I believe the problem might lie with the acid pump, but the corroded area is not on the side of the pump’s outlet. The equipment team’s analysis suggests that the impact of the acid injection pipe caused the acid to splash onto the ceiling, leading to corrosion; I hope fellow users can help with this analysis!
What are the components and temperature of the waste acid? What is the material of the ceiling, and is it treated to prevent corrosion? If so, what is the treatment method used, and what materials are employed? What is the height of the top plate above the acid level? Is there any specificity to the location of corrosion (edges? Weld? Convex surface? Concave surface? )? Details are often key to analyzing a problem; it’s best to include photos!
