Inspection and maintenance of high-pressure hydrogen service valves in hydrocracking units

Next year, I’m planning to carry out major repairs on my hydrocracking unit. There are many high-pressure hydrogen-related valves at the site that haven’t been disassembled in over a decade; I’m a bit worried and would like to have them inspected. The problem is that repairing them is rather difficult, as these valves are all welded valves; it’s hard to ensure the quality of repairs while they’re still in use. Removing them involves a lot of pipe cutting and welding, which entails significant workload and safety risks as well. Therefore, I would like to know how other units carry out maintenance on these valves – do they carry out repairs only when there are faults, or do they conduct preventive maintenance every 10 or 20 years? Is the maintenance done online or by removing the valve for repair?
During major overhauls of the reaction area and the high-pressure pipelines in the compressor section, there are few opportunities for technical modifications or repairs. If no problems exist, it is not recommended to disassemble the equipment for inspection. Our control valves also experience leakage; in emergency situations, measures such as closing the upstream and downstream manual valves are taken, and faulty valves are replaced promptly
If the pressure can be maintained during testing, don’t remove it; if there’s a leak, then remove the cover and have the manufacturer carry out repairs. If that doesn’t work, welding replacement will be necessary. In high-pressure areas, after welding, flaw detection and heat treatment are required, which is quite troublesome
There’s no fault; generally, it’s not taken apart for repair. Maybe hire a professional company to carry out the maintenance
