A power-free roller conveyor is a type of conveying equipment used in automated assembly production lines. Its mechanical part mainly consists of a frame, rollers, and guide edges. According to the product’s manufacturing requirements, manual pushing is used for transfer in order to achieve the desired function. The maintenance of roller conveyor systems is divided into primary maintenance and secondary maintenance. (1) Level 1 maintenance: Daily maintenance is mainly carried out by the staff on duty, on a daily basis. 1. Before starting production each day, check whether there are any materials, tools, or debris piled up on the conveyor belt, as this could affect its normal operation; 2. After shutting down the machine at the end of each day, remove all kinds of waste residues left from the day’s operations from various sections of the conveyor belt. (II) Secondary maintenance: Secondary maintenance should be carried out regularly by a dedicated person (or team), usually once every one to two months. 1. Check whether the drum is bent or dented; 2. Check whether the tracks on which the drum is mounted are bent or deformed, and whether the screws connecting the tracks, brackets, and other components are loose; make adjustments if necessary; 3. Check whether the drum rotates smoothly and whether there are any abnormal noises. Maintaining proper lubrication of the mechanical moving parts of equipment is a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring its proper operation and a normal service life. Lubricate the roller bearings monthly. Safety precautions for power-free roller conveyors: 1. Do not insert your hands or feet between the rollers while the conveyor is in operation, as this may lead to injury; 2. It is forbidden to place tools or other objects on the conveyor; 3. When placing workpieces (or fixture plates) on the conveyor, do so gently in the middle of it, to avoid damaging the rollers due to forceful impact; 4. Employees must complete safety training before starting work.
