Our company uses a wax oil hydrogenation process; the mechanical seals of the hydrogenation feed pumps are flushed with diesel. The current processing capacity is around 35 tons per hour, with a diesel flow rate of about one ton per hour. When diesel flushing is used, the lifespan of the mechanical seals is approximately over half a year, while without it the lifespan is only about 4 months. Our company has done some calculations and found that not using diesel flushing results in significant cost savings, and that two diesel pumps are needed for flushing (otherwise the diesel pressure is not sufficient). How do other companies handle this? Are there any good methods that can save costs while also cleaning the machine seal?
Wax oil can be used directly as a sealing oil; it’s sufficient to maintain a stable temperature and an appropriate viscosity; An additional heater and control system are required, and the heat tracing for the oil sealing pipeline must be properly implemented. We did it before, and it was very successful.
Can the diesel used in the flushing oil system be replaced with diesel produced by the facility itself or jet fuel?
Actually, straight-run diesel can be used at the beginning of operation; once the product meets the quality standards, refined diesel can be used for cleaning~~~ It works quite well for us~~~
Our device is mainly used to produce diesel; we make money from diesel, and it would be a waste to use diesel for washing

Self-flushing can be a bit dirty; usually diesel is used. If your product is clean, that’s also fine – it can flow directly from the product’s outlet and then back again, thus enabling recycling. Alternatively, if there is a scale inhibitor available, it can be sent to the scale inhibitor tank or the oily waste tank
What do you mean by \"returning it\"? Can the diesel that has been washed be reused?
