After the nitric acid synthesis process, ammonia reduction is generally used for exhaust gas treatment; could the Fenton method be employed to attempt to address the treatment of NOX gases in exhaust gases?
Fenton can be used to attempt to re-oxidize NOX gases, but the acid formed as a result of this oxidation still needs to be dealt with and cannot be utilized; this leads to additional treatment costs. Moreover, the oxidants used in Fenton processes are expensive, and there is also a need to install a separate storage and supply system for hydrogen peroxide, which represents another investment. It is therefore better to use the ammonia reduction method for treatment
