Hello, respected seniors. I have a question I would like to ask here. Our company needs to purchase a heat exchanger, with the working media being lead-bismuth alloy and heat transfer oil. The pressures are not high; the design pressure is set at 1.6 MPa, and the temperature should not exceed 340°C. When making this purchase, we need to know what data the design institute or manufacturing factory should provide… Since we are engaged in research and development, this device will be used for experiments. However, the lead-bismuth alloy is such a special material that we are unable to determine an initial value for the heat transfer coefficient, and thus cannot determine the heat transfer area either. How should we communicate with the supplier in this situation to obtain the appropriate parameters for the purchase? Thank you~
Just provide the manufacturing company with the process requirements and the material specifications for the heat exchanger; they will use appropriate software (such as HTRI or EDR) to carry out the calculations and prepare detailed manufacturing drawings. You don’t need to worry about anything else – don’t overcomplicate things. If you can’t find anyone to do this, I’ll handle it for you.
