Everyone should talk about their work experiences, the various conflicts that arose at work and the solutions found to address them, as well as draw some lessons from these experiences. In my opinion, this work is a process, not an end result at all.

In my opinion, technicians should identify the defects present in the construction and design, especially those issues that are likely to arise once the installation is operating normally, and promptly suggest corrections to the construction party. Examples include the lack of drain valves on the level gauges, the inconvenient location of some manual valves making it hard to operate them, and the fact that safety valves lack upstream and downstream manual valves, which makes it difficult to remove them for regular calibration once the installation is in normal operation, among others. During the process of three inspections and four determinations, the operator helps to check whether gaskets are present and whether the bolts on the flange surfaces are loose. Additionally, based on the issues identified during these inspections, as well as the inconveniences that arise from daily tasks such as sampling, turning the shaft, and operating valves, the operator can work together with the technical staff to compile a list of problems and submit it to the construction party for correction. After all, at this stage the project has not yet been handed over, and they are still willing to carry out many of the tasks that have been requested. But once the project is handed over, asking them to make various corrections will be much harder – it will be difficult to get them to work on such things. Last year, in a hydrogen production plant I was working on, some details related to the pre-handover inspections and adjustments were not taken into account; I failed to ask the construction team to make the necessary corrections in time.
