One should stay away from areas at risk of fire and explosion, while also taking into account wind direction and the convenience of emergency rescue.
It is mainly changes in the external environment that lead to changes in the risks associated with fixed hot work areas; therefore, it is stipulated that risk assessment of such areas must be conducted at least once a year. Enterprises can prepare a risk identification and confirmation form for fixed hot work areas, and the department responsible for managing hot work within the enterprise shall conduct identification and confirmation of all such areas on an annual basis (the specific timing is specified in the relevant regulations). During identification, it is necessary to refer to the company’s most up-to-date map of explosion-hazardous areas to verify whether the locations of the fixed welding areas overlap with such areas. Special attention should be paid to analyzing any changes in the environment surrounding these fixed welding areas. It is also important to assess any changes in the combustible gas release devices that may exist within the company, as well as to examine the presence of such devices in nearby companies. In addition, the existing safety management measures in the fixed welding areas should be inspected.
1. It shall not be installed in areas with fire and explosion hazards; 2. It should be located downwind or to the side of the wind direction with the lowest frequency of occurrence throughout the year in areas at risk of fire and explosion, and it must meet the fire separation requirements from similar fire and explosion hazard areas in adjacent enterprises ; 3. The distance from factories, warehouses, tank farms, equipment, installations, hazardous wells, drainage ditches, water seal facilities, etc., to areas prone to fire and explosion shall not be less than 30 meters ; 4. Fixed indoor welding areas should be separated from other areas by solid firewalls; doors and windows should open outward, and outdoor access roads must be unobstructed ; 5. Fixed flammable gas detection alarms with audio-visual alarm functions should be installed in the fixed hot work areas located in the production facility area ; 6. No combustibles or other debris should be stored within the fixed hot work area. Comprehensive fire safety measures must be formulated and implemented, with clearly designated persons responsible for fire prevention.
