Can devices use plastic enclosures in intrinsically safe explosion-proof certification? Sure. Intrinsic safety, also known as intrinsically safe design, achieves the intrinsic safety of equipment by limiting the energy in the circuit, with no restrictions on plastic or metal enclosures. However, there are requirements regarding the use of plastic casings. GB/T3836-1-26.13 specifies that, in order to avoid the risk of ignition caused by static electricity, the surface resistance of Class II electrical equipment must be limited to a value not exceeding 1 GΩ. Therefore, as long as the surface resistance test of the device is no greater than 1 GΩ, a plastic casing can be used. If customers encounter an unsuccessful surface resistance test during actual operation, they can also handle the situation flexibly.
