For pipeline pressure testing, how is the thickness of temporary blind plates determined? I’ve looked up some information, but it seems that the sources are unclear and there’s no consistency; for example, there are various algorithms like 1. 2. Additionally, in practice, the subcontractors determine the thickness of the blind plates on their own or by referring to certain tables (whose origins are unknown), which makes things seem rather unreliable. Is there any unified algorithm or authoritative standard for determining the thickness of pressure testing blind plates? I’d appreciate any suggestions from those with experience in this area. :lol
They are all methods commonly used in engineering; it’s not a delicate task anyway, so an approximate estimate is sufficient
For temporary use, if you calculate 8 mm thickness, use 10 mm on-site – as long as there is no leakage that’s fine.
A temporary blind flange will suffice; it can be determined based on the pipeline pressure. The hydrostatic test is not a long-term process
