Do GB2 pipes require a gas-tightness test and a leakage test? Do GC2 pipelines require a gas-tightness test and a leakage test? Do GC3 pipes need to undergo a gas-tightness test and a leakage test? What is the basis?
For pipes, the leak test is also known as a airtightness test, as we generally use gas for such tests. Whether a airtightness test is required depends on whether the medium is toxic and flammable, and has nothing to do with the category of the pressure pipeline. Some pipelines, although they are pressure pipelines, may not be toxic or flammable; for example, steam, in which case no airtightness test is needed. On the other hand, some materials, although not pressure pipelines, can be toxic and flammable, and in such cases an airtightness test is necessary. For more details, see 20801 or 50316
