Party A has requested us to process pipe sections from forged billets; they provided a drawing, but no specific dimensions were given for the bulged area in the middle of the pipe section – only a few symbols were indicated. Due to limited capabilities, we are unable to understand what those symbols mean. Could someone please help by providing a clear explanation? Thank you! Appendix: Areas marked in red in the diagram.

Welding symbol, external groove – this is confirmed. It’s just that codes 3 and 8 seem rather strange; I’ve checked all the welding codes I’ve seen and none like these exist. I mean, with such high pressure in this pipe section and an RJ seal surface, designing such a protrusion – I find it quite challenging to figure out how to manufacture it

3 indicates gas welding; a single V denotes a single-sided groove, with a groove width of 8 mm, and the groove is located on the side of the branch pipe

The fitting should be a standard component – a welded branch pipe fitting, and its dimensions need not be specified
