During annual maintenance, the flange of this HCL mixer suffers severe corrosion. What causes this, and how can it be prevented?
The corrosion is very severe; it is recommended to apply an anti-corrosion coating. Ensure proper isolation between carbon steel and the medium. Or choose anti-corrosion materials. (Material resistant to hydrochloric acid corrosion)
Use flanges lined with PTFE, or apply anti-corrosion coating

What material is this mixer made of, OP? Stainless steel cannot be used in HCL media as it is not resistant to chlorine. Non-metallic materials are selected. If it is HCL hot gas, carbon steel will suffice.
Repair is carried out using polymer repair materials, followed by protection with a polymer ceramic coating.
