This gate valve (stainless steel) is used in the catalytic double-dehydration area, which are all areas with low pressure, meeting the application requirements of this gate valve. Since the valve stem is also made of stainless steel and has a lower hardness, it often bends during use, which affects operation. May I ask, if I want to have a batch of valve stems manufactured separately, what material would be suitable? Also, which dimensions need to be verified (such as pitch, outer diameter, inner diameter, etc.)? Thank you!

Conventional stainless steel is relatively soft and not very hard; moreover, the valve stem of knife gate valves is long and requires high torque, making it prone to deformation. Conventional stainless steel is not suitable for valve stems
The applicable range of such valves should be mud-like fluids with low pressure and high impurity content. This valve stem bends easily due to improper operation and excessive force applied. When in use, it is mostly blocked during the closing process due to excessive force. . . If resistance is encountered during the closing process, turn it on a few more times before closing it again; repeat this process, and never use excessive force. Also, if the valve packing gland bolts are loosened a few turns when shutting it down, it is advisable to tighten them again after closing. There is a reason behind the design of this type of valve. The valve will be damaged only due to improper use. It’s just a suggestion.

Your suggestion is very useful. However, in some cases, on-site operations don’t allow for complete control, so I’m considering changing the valve stem material to 12Cr – is that feasible?

A knife valve is still suitable for use here, in applications with low pressure and some sludge present.
I believe on-site management regarding operations is essential; it is necessary to clarify the principles behind their use and provide recognition for them. What’s left is the result. If you replace the sturdy valve stem, do you need to replace the bracket for that stem as well? ? That’s a cast piece; take a look at the picture – the bolt area at the bottom has already deformed. If management continues in this manner, focusing only on adapting the equipment to people rather than on how people should use the equipment properly, such a management approach will lead to serious problems. Imagine what would happen if, when it’s necessary to shut this valve urgently, the bracket breaks due to excessive force applied ? ? The entire cutting board is pulled out, causing material to spill… What if there are toxic or harmful materials involved? ? What kind of consequences are there? ? ?
20Cr13 will do; this material is commonly used as it has high hardness. Looking at the picture, it’s possible that lightweight valves were purchased; the material quality and the thickness of various components do not meet the required standards. What is its diameter? In fact, if the medium is free of strip-shaped impurities, a butterfly valve with a highly wear-resistant seat can be used; it offers zero leakage, low torque, compact size, and is relatively inexpensive.
