These are the most common methods for connecting valves or pipe fittings, but which one should be used in a given situation? I wonder if there’s any summary of experience?
You can be more specific; for example, butt welding is used for DN50 and above, socket welding for DN40 and below, as well as clamps, etc

Connecting pipe fittings is not as simple as you say; there are many detailed rules regarding the actual process of connection, and there are specific considerations for when to use flanges, among other things
It’s too complicated, so I don’t quite understand it. These days we use them all indiscriminately – card sleeves, quick-install types, and flanges are all used together. I’m not sure if there are any books on this topic

Small valves for high temperature and high pressure are welded, while large valves are connected using flanges.
