Gear of spring-type safety valve

There is a gear inside the spring-loaded safety valve; I’m not sure what function this gear serves Not quite sure; please, experts, tell me. Thank you, bonus points!
It might be used to adjust the spring pressure, that is, to set the starting pressure.
In my understanding, the gear serves to prevent backflow; that is, after the fluid starts moving, it is distributed evenly in all directions through the gear； The gear and the valve body are connected by threads; adjustment causes the gear to move up and down (with the valve seat above the gear), which in turn moves the valve seat up and down, compressing or stretching the spring and thus adjusting the set pressure.
The pinion located at the outlet of the valve chamber is professionally known as a adjustment ring. The function of the adjustment ring is to regulate the return pressure and discharge pressure. When the adjustment ring gear rotates counterclockwise, it moves upward, resulting in a decrease in discharge pressure; when the adjustment ring gear rotates clockwise, it moves downward, causing an increase in discharge pressure. Each time, the adjustment range of the ring gear should not be too large, ranging from 2 to 5 teeth.
Used for adjustment during regular calibration of safety valves; it must not be touched under normal circumstances.
I’ve learned that it’s used to adjust the takeoff pressure. :(
