Can a pipe seat be welded directly onto a high-pressure pipeline by drilling a hole? The design pressure for 3” pipes is 50 Mpa. It is necessary to install pressure gauges and temperature gauges on these 3” pipes, and the connections for these gauges are 1/2” NPTM. Can a 3” x 1/2” threaded pipe fitting be directly welded in after making a hole in the 3” pipe? If that doesn’t work, what should we do instead?
Welding with holes in high-pressure pipes is not allowed; previously, a lens gasket was used between the two flanges, and connectors for pressure gauges and thermometers were led out from this gasket
Holes can generally be made in high-pressure pipelines, but there is a difference between high-pressure and low-pressure ones. The two above are called branch pipe pedestals, used for high pressure. The one below is for low pressure.
As long as the pressure-bearing capacity is sufficient, consider the thread length.
