ASME B36.10-2022: Welded and Seamless Wrought Steel Pipes. ASTM A333/A333M-18: Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Steel Pipes for Low-Temperature Service and Other Applications with Required Notch Toughness: Nominal seamless and welded steel pipes for low-temperature use. ASME relies on ASTM for pipeline materials; therefore, does ASME B36.10 correspond to ASTM A333? At first glance, I couldn’t find any relevant description in the original standard text; I’d like to ask everyone for advice.
The ASME B36.10 standard specifies the general requirements for steel pipes, such as dimensions, wall thickness, and quality. ASME A333, on the other hand, is a standard for low-temperature steel pipes, which are used in conditions with low temperatures. The two standards are not closely related. For example, when designing, if ASTM A333 material is chosen for use under the given operating conditions, you can calculate the required thickness of the pipe based on the allowable stress of one of the materials specified in ASTM A333 and the design requirements; thereafter, select a standard specification from ASME B36.10 that meets those design requirements. Generally, these standard specifications specified in ASME B36.10 are readily available on the market and do not require special customization.
