How can a U-shaped clip be considered a sliding bracket? Most U-shaped clips should be regarded as fixed brackets, right? How should we understand the one in the figure below?
When clamped, the friction is high enough to serve as a fixing point support. Otherwise, it should be considered an axial guide bracket.

In my opinion, it should be used as a fixed support, because the oil pipelines need to be secured tightly; otherwise, the vibrations caused by the flow of the medium can be significant, and this may lead to leaks. Moreover, what provides the fixation is not friction; it’s rather the limiting mechanism, as the friction from line contact is very low.
The friction generated by the tightening of U-bolts is extremely small compared to the molecular forces resulting from the expansion of the pipeline............
