Production is carried out in batch mode under high vacuum in the reaction vessel; once the reaction is complete, the vacuum must be broken using air. Currently, the pipe used for breaking the vacuum is connected to the main exhaust pipe, and when the valve is opened, the flow rate of air is too high, posing a significant risk of static electricity. Is there a valve that can be used to reduce the gas flow rate? Please let me know if anyone knows. I took a look at the vacuum break valve; it is used to prevent the formation of a vacuum, so it’s not suitable.
It can be replaced with a small valve or a flow-limiting orifice plate can be added in front of the valve.
The pipe diameter has been determined, and flow-limiting orifice plates have been considered. With a constant amount of vent flow, the flow velocity at the orifice plate is higher; therefore, it is being checked whether there are any specialized pipe fittings available. It’s not clear whether pipe flame arresters could be used in this context
To reduce the air flow velocity, one must increase the pipe diameter. Or vent it in multiple places.
Vacuum breaking venting is different from venting under pressure, as there is no issue of waste gas collection and treatment. So there is no need to connect it to the so-called main pipe; it can be vented right at the location.
Reducing the flow rate might only be possible using a labyrinth valve; this should solve the problem. I’m not sure if a cage valve will work In from above, out from below
