Can the flange sealing surface be painted?

As shown in the figure, do anyone have any insights that could provide guidance?
Sealing surfaces have relatively strict requirements regarding roughness; the roughness of the sealing surface of flat gaskets must be at Ra6.3/Ra3.2. For sealing surfaces that are connected by rings, even higher roughness standards are required to ensure good and reliable sealing. Therefore, painting on the sealing surfaces is not allowed.
The sealing surface must not be painted, as painting may lead to subsequent failure of the seal. On this sealed surface of the image, paper should have been placed as a pad; it can be removed after spraying paint
The lower surface of the column base plate of steel structure columns isn’t even allowed to be painted, let alone the flange sealing surface
