The document \"Oxygen Pipeline Systems IGC DOC13/02/E\" specifies regarding safety valves that both the valve body and the flow-through components must be able to withstand impacts, and materials that are resistant to such impacts are commonly used for these parts. I recently visited a company that uses high-pressure oxygen; the oxygen pressure there is around 6.5 MPa. The oxygen storage tanks, with a capacity of 10 cubic meters, are made of carbon steel, and the safety valves on these tanks are also made of carbon steel. I’m not sure whether this is appropriate. The oxygen storage tank is purchased as a complete unit, while the safety valve is a safety accessory. The safety valves on the oxygen pipelines before and after the oxygen storage tank are made of stainless steel 304, and the pipelines before and after the safety valves are also SS30408. I’m not sure whether the materials used for valves and pipes are compliant now! What are everyone’s opinions? ? ? In cases like this where there are no regulatory requirements, when a problem occurs, is it the designer’s responsibility or that of the equipment supplier? What do you all think? ?
The valve body and the flow-through parts should be considered to be in environments subject to shock,; therefore, materials that can withstand such conditions are commonly used. Similar to stop valves used for high-pressure oxygen, the materials used for components such as the valve body that come into contact with oxygen are Monel copper-nickel alloys or copper alloys
