The question is as stated in the title. Under the current process conditions, the saturated steam pressure is 0.15 MPa(G), with pipe diameters of DN250, DN350, and DN500. In these conditions, which type of valve is more suitable: a globe valve or a gate valve? Please explain the reason. Then, what type of valve sealing surface is more durable? Are there any specific examples? Thank you
A globe valve is definitely the better choice; it offers good sealing properties. If it needs to remain open all the time, a gate valve can be used, while for situations where it needs to stay closed for an extended period, a globe valve is the best option

Depending on your operating conditions, gate valves are suitable for being fully opened or closed; however, they shouldn’t be left in a partially open state, as this could damage the gate. Gate valves also result in minimal pressure drop. Globe valves, on the other hand, can be set to a partially open position and offer some degree of regulation, but they cause greater pressure drop and some erosion. In terms of sealing performance, gate valves are superior. Their prices are roughly comparable
