The correct term for “pipe grade” should be “pipe grade number,” which consists of three elements: 1. the nominal pressure of the pipe, 2. the sequence number, and 3. the category of the pipe material. Therefore, the design pressure of a pipe is generally lower than the pressure corresponding to its pipe grade number (the nominal pressure of the pipe)
