Equipped with a 350m hydrogen pipeline! The renovation of the Nari Song photovoltaic hydrogen production project in the Three Gorges area has begun. Date: 2025-09-19. Recently, the renovation project for photovoltaic hydrogen production at Nari Song in Jungeer Banner, Ordos City, was approved for implementation. The project is located within the Narisong Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Plant in the Zhungeer Economic Development Zone, in Shagudu, Zhungeer Banner, Ordos City. The entity responsible for the project is Ordos Hanxia New Energy Co., Ltd. The total investment for the project is 10.459 million yuan. Construction scale and details: A hydrogen storage sphere tank with a diameter of approximately 10.8m and a water capacity of 640 m³ is to be constructed within the photovoltaic hydrogen production facility, along with hydrogen delivery pipelines; the length of these pipelines is around 350m ; 4 additional anti-freezing systems have been installed in the circulating cooling water tower. Planned construction period: October 2025 to December 2026. It is understood that on August 28, 2022, the Three Gorges Group’s first hydrogen production project – the Narisong Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Industry Demonstration Project in Jungeer Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (referred to as the “Narisong Project”) – officially commenced construction. The Narjisong project is one of the first integrated wind and solar hydrogen production demonstration projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It was jointly developed by China Three Gorges New Energy (Group) Co., Ltd. (referred to as Three Gorges Energy) and Manshi Investment Group Co., Ltd. The project is located in Narisong Town, Zhungeer Banner, Ordos City. It consists of a photovoltaic power plant and a hydrogen production facility; the photovoltaic power plant has an installed capacity of 400 megawatts, with an average annual power generation of 740 million kWh. Once completed, it will enable the savings of around 230,000 tons of standard coal per year, as well as a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of about 600,000 tons per year ; The total installed capacity of the hydrogen production plant is 75 megawatts, including 15 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters per hour each, as well as 1 backup alkaline electrolyzer with the same capacity. With an annual operating hours of 8,000 hours, the plant can produce approximately 10,000 tons of hydrogen per year, along with 85,000 tons of oxygen as a by-product. Upon completion, 20% of the project’s total electricity generation will be supplied directly to the local power grid, while the remaining 80% will be used for water electrolysis to produce hydrogen. The hydrogen and oxygen produced will primarily be utilized in the chemical and transportation industries. Of this, most of the produced high-purity hydrogen is directly transported via a newly built 2-kilometer hydrogen pipeline to downstream ammonia synthesis plants; the remainder is pressurized and then loaded onto trucks for delivery to nearby hydrogen refueling stations ; Part of the oxygen produced is transported to local chemical companies after being pressurized, while the other part is liquefied and loaded onto vehicles for delivery to other organizations that have a need for it. On June 29, 2023, the Narisong photovoltaic hydrogen production industrial demonstration project in Jungeer Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, successfully produced hydrogen. The project utilizes coal mining backfill areas to build photovoltaic power plants, with an annual power generation capacity of around 740 million kWh. Of this amount, 20% is supplied directly to the local power grid, while the remaining 80% is used for hydrogen production. On December 29, 2023, the photovoltaic power plant under the Narisong Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Industry Demonstration Project in Jungar Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was connected to the grid and began generating electricity.
