Dear experts, I need to purchase some high-pressure pipe valves soon, but I don’t have much knowledge regarding high-pressure pipes. Therefore, I would like to ask you: for a working pressure of 35 MPa, which brand of high-pressure valve components would you recommend? HIP and SAMI, or HOKE or something else? Which brand offers better value for money? Could those who know do the favor of sorting them?
I recommend Korean DK-lok: lol. If it’s 35, it’s probably a hydrogen station. American products are too expensive, and Italian ones aren’t cheap either; plus, you have to consider lead times. Even if the initial shipment arrives on time, production will be delayed when purchasing replacements later. Not to mention the variety of brands available – American brands have seen two tax increases at the end of the year, making them unaffordable. German high-quality products have always been expensive. Consider Korean DK-lok; its quality is top-notch, and it performs well in China’s chemical industry. Its price is about 30% lower than that of American brands. 35 MPA isn’t considered very high pressure at the moment. The general trend for hydrogen energy in 2019 is towards 35 MPA and 70 MPA products, and production for these levels has basically been completed. Well, regarding this issue, Korean products come with localized services, and the general agent is responsible for after-sales support. For example, I work at DK-lok’s China headquarters as a technical support specialist for product selection; in case of any problems with the products, the 1-year warranty is stipulated by the factory, and the necessary services are provided as required. Special situations rarely occur. It seems that the kind of service you’re referring to is provided by small intermediaries, who try to prevent us from having direct contact with customers, or who deal with products of unknown origin, thereby avoiding their responsibilities. Of course, we can’t judge all Korean products negatively; that’s my mistake. In 2016, we purchased control valves from South Korea for our clients. After problems arose in 2017, they tried various excuses – sometimes saying we needed to pay first, other times claiming they didn’t have time for after-sales service – in an attempt to extend beyond the warranty period. We later found a domestic manufacturer of control valves who resolved the issues for us, and since then we have been using domestic products.

The pressure you’re dealing with is quite high, so safety comes first; brands such as HOKE and Swagelok are good options.
