Why are welded support and hanger types not suitable for pipes made of carbon steel when the temperature of the medium inside the pipe is 400°C or higher?
It’s not absolute either; the fixing brackets for high-temperature pipes definitely need to be welded. However, the welding method and materials must be consistent with those of the main pipe.
Variable expansion can cause localized deformation of pipes or supports
When used as material for pressure pipelines, carbon steel pipes have an upper temperature limit of 425°C, after which their allowable stress drops rapidly. When welding is used as a support, the local stress is relatively high, which significantly reduces the safety of the pipeline
