The valve is leaking; should I use butter or imported sealant?

I’ve been in this field for not long, and I would like to ask the more experienced colleagues: 1. If a valve is leaking severely, should butter or imported sealant be used? 2. When maintaining valves, should butter or grease be used? Previously, the company used imported lubricants and sealing greases; during this business trip, I met other manufacturers who said they used Grease King and Mobil greases. I would appreciate the advice from those who are more experienced.
One is the scientific name and the other is the common name; they refer to the same thing.
I can’t understand it. The valve is leaking severely; what type of valve is it and where is the leak? If it is a screw rod packing, the packing should be replaced; if it is a middle seal, the seal should be replaced. For ordinary valves, butter or grease is sufficient for these two areas, but special valves require different treatment. If there is internal leakage in the valve core and seat, then it has nothing to do with butter grease or imported sealing grease; nothing will work in such a situation, and the only option is to disassemble the component for repair.
It’s just a regular ball valve, with its sealing surface damaged. For repairs, grease injection is the only option; there is a big price difference between butter and imported grease. Thank you for your reply.

The price difference is quite significant. I’m just wondering if everyone also uses butter to deal with leaking ball valves.
If location doesn’t matter, just use whatever. If it’s important, it’s better to use a better one; after all, there is a difference. Just like the oil used in cars, different grades yield different effects.
If the sealing surface is already damaged. Using sealant doesn’t help either. It keeps leaking after a few switches~
Well, ball valves that are still within the warranty period should use better quality lubricant.
Yeah, by the time it comes to using sealant, the valve is no longer functional; one can only temporarily deal with the issue by using sealant.
