Today (the 28th), with the Bianhai 109 pipelaying ship laying the final end cap for a submarine pipeline in the southern part of the Bohai Sea, the total length of submarine oil and gas pipelines in China has surpassed 10,000 kilometers, placing it among the top in the world. Since the beginning of this year, significant progress has been made in the construction of submarine pipelines in our country. The two submarine pipelines associated with the Dongfang 13-3 development project in the Yinggehai area of Hainan Island were put into use successfully, enabling interconnection of submarine pipelines around Hainan Island. The Bohai Bay, China’s largest crude oil production area, has developed the most extensive submarine pipeline network in the country, with over 3,200 kilometers of submarine oil and gas pipelines. Song Yanlei, Deputy Manager of the Marine Pipeline Center at CNOOC Engineering Installation Branch: With the commissioning of these pipelines in the southern part of the Bohai Sea, the density of the pipeline network in this area has reached over 4 kilometers of pipelines per 100 square kilometers of sea area. To date, this year China has built nearly 200 kilometers of new undersea oil and gas pipelines in total. According to the plans, by 2030 the total length of submarine pipelines in China is expected to exceed 13,000 kilometers, further strengthening the network for the transmission of marine energy. In the context of the transition to new energy sources, these pipelines also have the potential to transport clean energy sources such as hydrogen and shale gas, providing flexible support for optimizing the energy structure.
