Elbow supports are common in pipeline support design, but the requirement to check and measure the wall thickness of the pipes is considered a practice that does not comply with pipeline layout standards. I would like to know what the purpose of such a requirement is!
Generally, it is not recommended to weld supports at elbows to increase the stress on them. There is no mandatory requirement.

The person who conducted the inspection suggested that wall thickness measurement could affect the pipes, but that’s just their opinion. “That’s more or less what the “experts” say.
For pipes whose wall thickness needs to be measured, it is best to avoid installing supports at the elbows, as the wall thickness there thins out most easily and requires inspection
Elbow supports are a very commonly used type of support in actual construction, and Sinopec as well as other design institutes have standard catalogues for their implementation. It’s difficult to determine who is right or wrong in the case where elbow supports affect the inspection of elbows; personally, I think there are always more solutions than problems, and we shouldn’t give up just because of obstacles
