Question: What standards should be referred to when selecting the grade of welding electrodes (or welding wire) for welding pipes?
Refer to Chapter 7 on welding materials in HG20581-1998
Where possible, materials recommended in the welding procedure specifications for pressure vessels should be used. Materials not listed in those specifications must undergo process qualification to ensure their mechanical properties as well as other properties such as corrosion resistance, performance at high temperatures, and performance at low temperatures
Customized, which means referring to these and considering everything comprehensively. . But in my personal opinion, I disagree with the approach of making a choice through process evaluation. .
I agree with you; even for process qualification, it should fall within the recommended range
