Clause 9.1.5 of GB50235: For the aforementioned valves, instruments, and other components connected by welding, protection measures such as using a bypass flow path, removing the valve stem and seat and applying protective covers should be taken before carrying out purging and cleaning. What does a valve seat protector look like? How to fix it?
This generally doesn’t exist; the simplest way is to remove it and replace it with a shorter section! After purging is complete, put the valves and instruments back in!
He was talking about high-pressure welding. I haven’t participated in similar projects, but if protection is needed, then make a cover. I think the outer diameter of the sleeve can be inserted into the hole, with a step added on it for positioning; as long as the inner hole is unobstructed, it’s fine to blow in the direction of flow. Protection is needed on one side, but not on the other, since air cannot reach there.
