According to the TSG-D0001 Code for Safety Inspection of Pressure Piping – Classification of Pressure Piping by Type, piping for flammable liquids of categories A and B with a design temperature below -29°C and a pressure below 4 Mpa can be classified as GC2. However, according to page 81 of the GB50517 Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Petrochemical Metal Piping Projects, piping for flammable liquids of categories A, B, and C with a design temperature below -29°C and a pressure below 4 Mpa should be classified as GC1. I consulted an experienced engineer, who stated that non-flammable, non-toxic gases or liquids with a temperature below -29°C, as well as flammable liquid media of categories A, B, and C, should all be classified as GC1. I have doubts regarding this; what specifications should be referred to for the classification of piping with a temperature below -29°C? Is there any specific criterion for such classification? GB50517 states that reference should be made to Article 8(34) of the relevant TSG-DZ001 specification, but I could not find any requirements related to temperature in that specification.
