There are several pumps for feeding the catalyst at the site; the safety valves are connected to the inlet pipes of these pumps, and the outlet sections have been reduced to a smaller diameter so as to connect with the inlet pipes. Is this installation appropriate?

Wasn’t it designed by a design institute? Such unauthorized process changes must be avoided; should such changes lead to an accident, those responsible will have to bear legal consequences, and now there is a lifetime liability requirement.
It is necessary to check the pressure at the pump inlet in order to calculate the back pressure for the safety valve; spring-loaded safety valves have requirements regarding back pressure, which must not exceed 10 percent of the set pressure. The specific requirements and calculation formulas can be found in the Petrochemical Plant Design Manual.
