I have a question: generally, drain ports are installed at the lowest points of pipelines. However, according to Sinopec’s standard SH3012, for pipelines throughout the entire plant, it is stipulated that drain ports shall not be installed at the lowest points of pipelines carrying extremely hazardous or highly hazardous media, as well as pipelines carrying corrosive media. May I ask why?
If possible, I’m curious to know how you would use it so as to avoid any security issues :)
Drain valves should not be installed at the lowest points of pipelines carrying extremely hazardous and highly hazardous media, as well as pipelines carrying corrosive media. In my opinion, the most important consideration is safety, in order to prevent safety accidents resulting from improper operations on site. The venting and drainage of such pipelines must be carried out with protective measures in place; it is not allowed to discharge them arbitrarily.
For safety reasons, otherwise it would cause too much harm.
Hello, teacher. I would like to ask: if no minimum level is set, how is the medium in the pipeline drained after the system is stopped? For example, if the medium I’m using is concentrated sulfuric acid, it’s very dangerous if any remains in the pipes.
It’s not really a matter of complete drainage; rather, it’s necessary to have specialized collection measures. Toxic and harmful substances require specialized, enclosed collection systems, and random drainage should not be allowed.
