A DN20 pipeline is installed in front of the check valve at the pump outlet; this pipeline, which includes a gate valve and a flow-limiting orifice plate, serves the purpose of connecting to the pump’s drain system. Besides facilitating drainage from the lowest points, what other functions does it have?
What is the medium through which it travels? It should be low-point drainage (pumping, emptying and purging, or allowing water to settle at the low point – the original poster’s description was rather vague; the diagram above makes things clearer)
It may also be used to flush mechanical seals
