I currently have a 16-inch, 150-pound low-temperature triple-eccentric butterfly valve. What is the standard for performing reverse pressure testing, and what is the pressure in kilograms?
If there is a defined direction, pressure should be applied in accordance with that direction. In the case of reverse testing pressure, this is used to detect leaks in the packing of the actuator’s spindle; in such situations, pressure should be applied at both ends when the device is turned on, and the test should be conducted at multiples of the specified pressure value. Doesn’t the manufacturer provide this parameter? Are there parameters in the specifications? Won’t the manufacturer conducting this test do it? Is on-site re-inspection still required?
Before installation, the valve must undergo a pressure test. Two blind flanges are used, with small openings made in them to accommodate the valve. Pressure is applied at the inlet side of the valve to check whether there are any leaks at the valve opening (valve core).
