Is a bypass required for the steam trap pipeline?

If the steam trap is faulty, especially in the case of a blocked steam trap. If no bypass is installed, it is necessary to shut down the plant in order to operate the steam trap. What do people actually do in practice?
Previously, our low-pressure steam pipes had just one drain pipe; there was a ball valve in front of the steam trap, and from there, the steam was directly discharged into the drain! In the first winter after the installation was completed, the grass in the area near the outlet of the steam trap grew the best
However, the standard source for Figure 5.0.5-6 does not state that it must be installed; it only says that Figure 5.0.5-6 should be used when a bypass is necessary.
With proper settings, the steam trap can be serviced.
