Under normal operating conditions, the breather valve is open to the atmosphere. If a pipe is connected after the breathing valve, will the back pressure (positive or negative) behind the breathing valve affect its functionality? For example, if the normal exhaust pressure of a breathing valve is 1200 Pa, and the pressure behind the breathing valve is -500 Pa, will the breathing valve open in advance to allow air to escape (with the pressure in front of the breathing valve being 700 Pa at this time)?

The selection and fabrication of breather valves should be based on the required ventilation capacity of the storage tank as well as the backpressure conditions; reference can also be made to SH/T3007-2014 or API2000 for selection purposes. In the event of backpressure, manufacturers must select the weight of the valve disc or the spring loading pressure when producing breathing valve discs, based on the level of backpressure.
