As the title indicates, the factory is currently conducting a cost comparison for the calibration of safety valves. The qualifications required for calibrating FD1 and FD2 safety valves are essential; only with such qualifications can the calibration be carried out. However, it’s not clear whether these qualifications allow for the issuance of reports. As far as I remember, a CMA certification is required to issue a test report. Does anyone know if this CMA certification is required to obtain a test report?
According to the Regulations on the Safety Supervision of Special Equipment, engaging in activities such as testing, inspection, and appraisal of special equipment requires corresponding technical qualifications as well as supervision and management qualifications. To issue a safety valve calibration report, the following qualifications are required: 1. Qualification as a special equipment inspection agency: Safety valves of types FD1 and FD2 fall under the category of special equipment such as boilers and pressure vessels; therefore, a qualification as a special equipment inspection agency is necessary to carry out their calibration. 2. CMA accreditation: CMA is the accreditation status for laboratories granted by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment. When calibrating safety valves, relevant measurements and tests are required, which involve measuring instruments, standards, and other elements; therefore, having CMA accreditation ensures the accuracy and reliability of the calibration process. Therefore, if a safety valve calibration report is required, it is recommended to engage an institution that possesses the qualifications for inspecting special equipment as well as CMA accreditation for such inspections. .
Let me put it this way: most safety valve calibration agencies do not possess CMA accreditation. Reports issued by agencies with CMA accreditation are more authoritative in China and can be used as evidence in court. If international recognition is required, then a CNAS certificate is necessary. Of course, it’s also fine if there isn’t one; its capabilities will just be questioned. Generally, there’s no problem with this in domestic settings.
