Sliding valves are key components in petrochemical equipment used in the Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) process; they are control valves that adjust the size of the fluid inlet opening in order to regulate fluid flow. They belong to the category of high-end valves, and in the past, most MTO sliding valves had to be imported. In recent years, Bohai Equipment Petrochemical Equipment Company has set its goal on localizing the production of slide valves. By following foreign design standards for slide valves such as those from UOP and ExxonMobil, and by employing techniques such as flow channel offsetting for slide valves as well as CMT cold welding for valve plates and guide rails, it has achieved an international advanced level in the design and manufacturing of slide valves. On February 19, 2023, the slide valve products manufactured by Bohai Equipment Petrochemical Equipment Company for Inner Mongolia’s petrochemical enterprises entered the production preparation phase and are set to go into operation soon. Zhang Yong, manager of the Petrochemical Equipment Company, said that this product will replace the existing imported slide valves, marking a key step forward in the localization of slide valve products. During its market development efforts, Bohai Equipment Petrochemical Equipment Company learned that a private petrochemical enterprise in Inner Mongolia planned to modify the slide valves used in a methanol deep-processing project. The technical marketing staff of the petrochemical equipment company conducted multiple on-site discussions with the customers, providing detailed answers to their questions. Ultimately, they earned the customers’ full recognition thanks to their technical expertise in slide valve technology, manufacturing capabilities, service record, and comprehensive renovation solutions.
Thank you, President Yu, for sharing the information; thumbs up!
There are also many imported key equipment and components in MTO plants; it is hoped that more manufacturers will strive for innovation in order to replace imports with domestic alternatives.
For emergency shut-off valves, you can contact me; there are also valves that need to be opened and closed frequently.
China’s first hot-wall single-acting slide valve was imported from Cuba (of American manufacture); in 1964, Lanzhou Refinery began working on the replication of such valves. After more than 30 years of development, these valves have become quite mature, and there is no longer a market for foreign-made valves in China. There are three domestic manufacturers of slide valves: Jingmen Refining & Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd. and Xi’an Qindu Petrochemical Machinery Co., Ltd. Lanzhou Refinery belongs to CNPC, while Jingmen Refining & Chemical Machinery belongs to Sinopec. Xi’an Qindu originated as an experimental factory under the Science and Technology Department of Xi’an Aeronautical Engine Factory; it later transformed into a company that produces chemical containers and special valves. All three companies used to rely on designs provided by Luoyang Institute and Beijing Institute to manufacture their slide valves, but now they design them themselves. The internal structure, product quality, and overall weight of their valves are similar, with differences only in terms of their areas of specialization.
