However, requirements are specified for the calculated thicknesses on the inner and outer sides of elbows in pressure pipelines. Elbows as defined in GB/T12459 are manufactured to have the same pressure strength as the pipelines; so how can it be determined that they meet the requirements of pressure pipelines?
When selecting pressure pipe elbows, it is indeed necessary to give special consideration to the wall thickness of the elbows in order to meet the safety and reliability requirements of the pressure pipes. The wall thickness of elbows specified in GB/T12459 is based on pipeline design for equal pressure grades; however, in practical applications, it is necessary to refer to ASME B31 pipeline design codes or other applicable engineering standards to determine whether the calculated inner and outer wall thicknesses of the elbows meet the specific requirements for pressure pipelines. First, the inspection can be carried out through the following steps: 1. Determine the operating pressure and temperature to which the pipeline is subjected. 2. Based on the operating conditions, use ASME B31.3 or other relevant standards to calculate the minimum wall thickness required for the pipes and elbows. 3. Compare the elbow wall thickness specified in GB/T12459 with the calculated minimum wall thickness, to ensure that the elbow wall thickness is not less than the calculated value. If the standard elbows specified in GB/T12459 do not meet the required wall thickness as calculated, it may be necessary to order thicker elbows or choose other suitable standard products. In all cases, it is crucial to ensure that all pipe fittings, including elbows, can safely withstand the expected operating pressure and temperature. .
