What is a pressure system? If a device’s outlet is connected to a pipeline via a valve, does that constitute a pressure system?

When equipment is exported and the pipes are connected via valves, it constitutes a pressure system; as long as the pressure in the pipes comes from the equipment, it is considered valid (even if there is no pressure-boosting equipment in between).
The specification refers to the pipeline being connected directly to the equipment. So what situations fall under the category of pipes not being directly connected to the equipment?
