China National Petroleum Corporation’s most productive flexible composite pipe production line is now in operation. After more than two months of intensive construction, installation, and testing, on December 5th, China National Petroleum Corporation’s highest-degree-automated and most productive non-adhesive flexible composite high-pressure pipeline (RTP) production line was put into operation at the CNPC Pipe Industry Company located in the Urumqi Economic Development Zone. Thus, the company’s annual production capacity for oil, gas, and non-metallic pipes has increased to 3,000 kilometers, making it the largest and most diversified non-metallic pipe manufacturer under China National Petroleum Corporation. RTP is an emerging type of enhanced thermoplastic composite pipe that offers advantages such as high design flexibility, good flexibility, the ability to be coiled, few joints, and easy installation. It can effectively address the problems of corrosion-prone steel pipes and low pressure resistance of plastic pipes, and it has been a focus of research, development, and application in the fields of oil and gas transportation as well as hydrogen transport in recent years. Xinjiang is one of the regions in China with the highest demand for RTP, with a market scale exceeding 150 million yuan. As a specialized and innovative enterprise in Xinjiang, in 2023, CNPC Pipe Industry Company, with the support of the China National Petroleum Corporation’s infrastructure development project for scientific and technological capabilities, adopted advanced equipment such as domestic fully automatic winding machines, fully automatic coiling machines, and fully automatic insulation production machines to establish the only RTP production base in Xinjiang. The RTP production line employs a constant-tension automatic control system, enabling one-step molding of reinforced continuous fiber multi-layer winding. At the same time, by innovatively optimizing the layout of the production line, key processes such as inner liner extrusion, reinforcement layer winding, and outer coating can be flexibly combined according to different pipe diameters, thereby maximizing production efficiency and improving product quality.
