Recently, the Baotong Street sub-high-pressure pure hydrogen pipeline project, an important construction component of the second phase of the “Hydrogen to Every Household” technology demonstration project, officially commenced construction in Weifang High-Tech Zone. This hydrogen pipeline is the core main pipeline of the hydrogen transportation network demonstration project in the high-tech zone. It was organized by Weifang Municipal Public Utilities Service Center and constructed with investment from Weifang High-Tech China Resources Gas Co., Ltd. The total investment in the project amounts to approximately 10 million yuan; the length of the main pipeline is 5.2 kilometers, its design pressure is 1.6 MPa, the pipe diameter is DN200, and its designed hydrogen transportation capacity is 30,000 tons per year. The Baotong Street secondary high-pressure pure hydrogen pipeline is the first urban hydrogen transport pipeline in China to be planned, approved, designed, and constructed in accordance with urban gas regulations. The hydrogen transmission pipeline network system in the High-Tech Zone was designed by China Resources (Nanjing) Municipal Engineering Design Co., Ltd. and China National Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corporation, with construction carried out by China Resources (Nanjing) Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd.; completion of the main pipelines is scheduled for the end of April. Once completed, the project will enable the hydrogen produced by Huadian Weifang Power Plant to be transported to the high-tech zone through pipeline networks. Compared with traditional road transport, this method reduces hydrogen transportation costs by over 80%, thereby significantly lowering the hydrogen usage costs for various users in the high-tech zone and further promoting the adoption of hydrogen as a source of energy in urban areas.
