Recently, solemn vows were heard at the Shanghai port as China’s 42nd Antarctic expedition, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, set sail, destined to cross the equator and pass through the Roaring Forties in order to reach Antarctica. This expedition was supported by the ships Xue Long and Xue Long 2, which provided assistance to over 500 team members from more than 80 organizations in China; researchers from over a dozen countries and regions including Thailand and Chile were also invited to take part. The six team members of the oil supply system project for the Ross Sea hub station in Antarctica, which was constructed by China National Chemical Engineering Second Construction Company, namely Wang Zhaohui, He Xingyu, Cao Dewen, Hu Yawei, Liu Baohang, and Mao Fujun, also officially boarded the ship Xue Long on its journey to Antarctica. A brief yet solemn farewell ceremony for the expedition sounded the call to action for this \"elite team for construction work in Antarctica\". This mission marks the official entry into the substantive construction phase of the fuel supply system project for the Antarctic Ross Sea hub station, as agreed upon by Erhua Jian. As the \"energy heart\" of Qinling Station, China’s fifth Antarctic research station and the first one designed for the Pacific region, this project holds great strategic significance for China’s chemical engineering industry as well as for polar research efforts. At the ceremony, the team members were full of energy, demonstrating the high morale and unwavering determination of Chinese chemical engineers to succeed.
