Our company is a manufacturer of methanol catalysts, and we need a large amount of sodium carbonate for the neutralization process; we have been using the sodium carbonate produced by Tianjin Alkali Plant, and its quality is quite good. Due to distance considerations, we want to switch to sodium carbonate produced by Weifang Haihua. We went to that factory for an investigation and conducted a comprehensive analysis of the products from both factories; it was found that the sodium carbonate produced by both factories meets the high-quality standards set by national regulations. However, after using a batch of sodium carbonate produced by Haihua, we found that a large amount of foam was generated when neutralization was nearing the end of the reaction (pH=7.2). It should be a residue of some surfactant, added to reduce consumption. It does not affect the performance; it can be eliminated using an antifoaming agent.
